About Amy

Amy received her Masters of Counseling Psychology degree from St. Martins University in Lacey, Washington, USA.

She is an independently licensed psychotherapist in the state of New Mexico (License #0178241).

She has decades of experience helping food addicts to recover.

Her other specialties include: other addictions, trauma, abuse, depression, ADHD, chronic medical conditions, nutrition, seniors, child and adolescents, and families.

Amy loves working with food addicts most of all, because they can make enormous progress in a short amount of time - in every area of life - once they have the right information and support.

The beauty of recovery from food addiction is that not only does one find quick freedom from out-of-control eating and food thoughts, but one gains “a new brain and new body,” as Amy says.

In recovery, people have more mental clarity, more energy, less pain, and less need for medications. In recovery, one finds a whole new way of living life: a life with more self-love and self-care, better ability to manage stress, better relationships, and more satisfaction in every area of life.

Food addicts in recovery feel healthier and saner…and are ready to explore their full potential once again.

No more missing out on fun activities; no more self-hatred and feeling sickly all the time.

Amy has discovered that the key to food addiction is understanding its complexity, and not settling for purely psychological approaches, purely physical approaches, or any one-size-fits-all or non-professional approaches.

Forget that slogan,

“Simple But Not Easy.”

Amy says, “Food addiction is COMPLICATED.  But it can be EASY, once you have the right information and support.”

In other words, it's EASY BUT NOT SIMPLE, that is, it feels easy to maintain recovery, once the food addict actually learns all the information they have been missing!

Amy and her clients feel that she has cracked the code on food addiction, by addressing ALL aspects of this disease.

Like many of you, Amy tried and failed over one hundred different ways to control food and weight.  And she got sicker and more frustrated every year.

She scoured all of her academic and professional training, and realized that NO ONE in her field was learning about food addiction, unless they went to great lengths to find the clues outside of the normal therapist curriculum.

And the information on eating disorders was exactly the OPPOSITE of what food addicts needed to recover.

And NO ONE else had the right information for food addiction either: not the doctors, the nutritionists, the dietitians, the commercial weight loss programs, the health food experts, the alternative doctors….NO ONE.

Even the so-called food addiction experts seemed to be hurting more people than they helped.  Their programs were either one-size-fits all, totally unprofessional, unreliable, overly restrictive, controlling or shaming.

NO ONE SEEMED TO HAVE THE ANSWER.

Using herself as the guinea pig, Amy experimented on herself as a food addict until she found what is termed “food neutrality.”

She had to find a plan that was straightforward, satisfying, flexible, accessible, and did not involve endless hours of cooking, shopping, counting, tracking, attending meetings, making calls, or any other overly-involved tasks.  It had to feel EASY.

Once free, Amy started to help hundreds of others, until she found a proven system that could work for all qualified candidatesÂą, as long as it could be customized for each client.

It turned out that no matter how many decades a food addict had failed, IT WAS NEVER TOO LATE TO RECOVER AND BE FREE.

Older adults were feeling 20 years younger in a matter of days or weeks.

 ¹Qualified means:

  1. Free from the use of alcohol, recreational drugs, and super-sedating medications (some exceptions apply)
  2. Able to learn online with videos and the written word
  3. Highly committed to recovery.

FOOD ADDICTION MAKES PEOPLE FEEL “OLD” BEFORE THEIR TIME;

recovery makes people feel VIBRANT!

Now Amy and her "tribe" can live the good life:

  • Long walks with loved ones
  • Laughter instead of tears
  • Following through with goals and dreams
  • Feeling proud of ourselves
  • Earning more money and saving more money
  • Wearing nicer clothes
  • Having renewed interest in living authentically and having FUN

Amy and her clients – also known as the “tribe” – are sharing the journey with each other through an online course and a private, online support group.

This online community is supportive and inspiring. Led by Amy and her outstanding "graduate mentors," clients go from out-of-control to transformed and stable in 8 SHORT WEEKS. After that, life begins again in many ways, and the tribe is there to support each person's maintenance and growth in recovery.

Longstanding mental health issues are improved dramatically. Health improvements amaze the doctors. Marriages and jobs are saved. We see astounding results every day.

Amy cares about every food addict and would love to help you, your loved one, or the people in your organization.
